We think Mother Earth is groovy, baby and here at The James we are committed to ensuring she stays healthy and well. All year long, but particularly during April, we’re vibing on sustainability in celebration of Earth Day, Thursday, April 22nd. As for The James itself, we contribute to a more sustainable planet regularly by going paperless and using electronic filing systems.
Here are a few ways the West Hollywood and Beverly Hills community are celebrating Mother Earth– won’t you join us?
- “Let’s Talk Trash”
Did you know California generates more plastic fibers than there are stars in the galaxy? On Thursday, April 1st join Clean City, Green City and talk some trash with their presentation diving deep into growing waste crisis and the solutions. - Clean City, Green City – Virtual Cleanup
Volunteering in person this year has been made difficult, but not impossible! Join Clean City, Green City by volunteering during the month of April to build and maintain a clean, green and beautiful city. By signing up, volunteers can safely participate under their own parameters during the month of April. To celebrate volunteers, one tree will be planted for the first 100 to sign-up. - Earth Day Virtual Art and Video Contest
The Public Works Department invites the Los Angeles youth to participate in this art contest and video competition that ends Sunday, April 25th. This year’s Art Contest theme is “Water is Life” as it relates to the stewardship and conservation of our most precious, natural resource – water. For official rules and submission, visit here. Participation for grades K-5. This year’s video contest for grades 6-12, is Climate Action. Create a 90-second video that demonstrates how youth is taking a part in climate action and promoting a culture of awareness and sustainability. For official rules and submission, visit here.
- Earth Day Celebration at the Beverly Hills Farmer’s Market
This year, the City of Beverly Hills is celebrating the 18th Annual Earth Day event at the farmer’s market on Sunday, April 25. Earth Day events include free shredding and a compost give away on Sunday from 9 a.m – noon. Please also visit the Public Works Department booth for information about the City’s sustainability efforts.
